Many of us, see the new year as a time to make resolutions. If we are being honest, often, we do not end up following through with them.
Before we can begin focusing on the present, and manifesting for our future, we need to be able to let go of what isn't serving us and reflect.
2016 had many eventful moments. I reflected upon on the past twelve months. I thought about what I want to leave behind and what I want to create during this year.
A great exercise to declutter your mind (from what has been weighing you down), is to make a list of emotions, people, habits, etc that you want to release. Next, list your accomplishments and the positive things that have happened in the past year. You can also put this in the form of a letter.
Now, it's time to to rewrite your story. How do you envision yourself in the upcoming year?
It's time to write yourself a "love" letter. Date this letter one year into the future. Take all you envisioned and act as if it has already occurred. Talk about your achievements and what you were proud of.
Remember to be as clear as possible. By creating clarity in our goals, we send a powerful message out into the universe.
Here are some of the things that I want to be a part of my 2017:
- Meditate more frequently- I have gotten away from daily meditation and I find that when I meditate, it makes me feel more whole and balanced.
- Travel to new places - New York, Georgia, and Alabama are on my list.
- Graduate from the nutrition program I am enrolled in and begin coaching clients.
- Continue to evolve spiritually - Follow the path I've been taking toward self-love, discover more about my truth, and immerse myself in spiritual teachings and readings to gain better insight.
- Increase my daily water consumption, which will help alleviate inflammation.
One of my usual resolutions or goals is to journal more. While, that still may be true, this year I have decided to do something different. I'm going to create a memory jar. Each day, I will place a note in the jar. These notes may be about accomplishments, gratitude, new experiences, or anything else that I may want to reflect upon.
I'd love to hear about your goals and what you want to accomplish this year.
Each day, is a new beginning, full of endless possibilities. Start creating! I know this year is going to be full of lots wonderful and magical things.

This is a great and honest post. It's so true, often times the new year is an excuse to make goals that we don't follow through with as the year goes on. But I think it's a great time to practice setting reasonable goals and yours definitely are! Best of luck to you in 2017! I hope you do get to visit New York! It's the best :)

Great post! I always try to make a point to drink more water as well but it is really hard! I am so interested in meditation but haven't ever actually tried it. I guess I don't really know how to start? Maybe I will make an effort to give that a try this year!
